Or just Caravan of Thieves, the acoustic alt-gypsy quartet out of Connecticut with a big devilish personality and a knack for writing witty pop songs set to the stomp rhythms reminiscent of the 1930’s “Hot Club de France”. Fuzz and Carrie Sangiovanni, the vocalists, guitarists and songwriters of the group, create fun yet elegant compositions that embody the spirit and swing of their gypsy jazz predecessors while whisking the listener away on lush vocal harmonies, ear catching melodies and wildly imaginative stories. Ben Dean’s fiery violin arrangements, Brian Anderson’s thumping upright bass and Fuzz and Carrie’s rhythmic acoustic guitar spanking all counteract and complement their delicate vocal arrangements.
Within a year of its inception in 2008, Caravan of Thieves began to win immediate praise for their unique style and theatrical, high energy show. After signing with Fleming Artists, the band hit the road, sharing stages with world renowned artists such as Dan Hicks, Tony Trischka, Decembrists, Iron and Wine, Tom Tom Club, Toad the Wet Sprocket, and John Hammond. Caravan successfully connected with audiences on each of these diverse bills proving the music to be a hit with folk, pop, rock and jazz appreciators of all ages.
